Terms & Conditions - the basics
Last updated: 08/2026
Welcome to Shelen Rie Jewellery. These Terms & Conditions apply to your use of our website and to all purchases made through shelenrie.com
By placing an order with us, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
1. About Us
This website is operated by Shelen Rie Jewellery.
Email: hello@shelenrie.com
Website: www.shelenrie.com
2. Our Jewellery – Handmade to Order
All of our jewellery is handmade to order. This means that your piece is made specifically for you after your order has been placed.
Because each piece is individually handmade, please allow approximately 3–4 weeks for your jewellery to be made.
The 3–4 week making period does not include shipping or delivery time. Delivery times are additional and will depend on the shipping method selected at checkout and the destination.
For example, if you select a delivery service estimated at 2–5 working days, this period begins once your jewellery has been completed and dispatched, not when your order is placed.
We will make reasonable efforts to meet the stated production timeframe. However, as our jewellery is handmade, occasional delays may occur. If there is a significant delay, we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible.
Please take the production time into account when ordering for a specific date, birthday, wedding, anniversary or other occasion.
3. Product Descriptions and Handmade Variations
We make every effort to ensure that our product descriptions, photographs, measurements, colours and prices are accurate.
As our jewellery is handmade, small variations between pieces are to be expected. These may include minor differences in texture, shape, finish, colour or appearance.
Such variations are a natural characteristic of handmade jewellery and are not considered defects where the item remains of satisfactory quality and matches its description.
Colours may also appear slightly different depending on your device, screen settings and lighting conditions.
4. Prices
All prices are displayed in GBP (£) unless otherwise stated.
We reserve the right to change our prices at any time. However, price changes will not affect orders that have already been accepted and confirmed.
In the unlikely event that an obvious pricing error appears on our website, we reserve the right to contact you before processing your order.
5. Placing an Order
When you place an order through our website, you are making an offer to purchase the selected product(s).
After placing your order, you will receive an email confirming that we have received your order. This confirmation does not necessarily mean that your order has been accepted.
Your order will be accepted when we confirm that your jewellery will be made and/or dispatched.
We reserve the right to refuse or cancel an order where there is a legitimate reason, including suspected fraudulent activity, an obvious pricing error, inability to obtain payment, or circumstances where the requested product cannot reasonably be supplied.
6. Payment
Payment must be made in full at the time of purchase unless otherwise agreed.
We accept the payment methods displayed at checkout.
Payments may be processed securely through third-party payment providers. We do not normally have access to or store your full payment card details.
7. Production and Delivery
As all pieces are handmade to order, please allow 3–4 weeks for production.
Shipping and delivery time is additional to this production period.
Once your jewellery has been completed, it will be dispatched using the delivery method selected at checkout.
Any delivery times displayed at checkout are estimates and are not included within the 3–4 week production period.
For international orders, delivery may also be affected by customs processing, import requirements or delays outside our control. Any applicable customs duties, import taxes or charges are the responsibility of the customer unless otherwise stated.
If you require an item by a particular date, please contact us before placing your order so that we can advise whether the requested date is achievable.
8. Your Right to Cancel – UK Customers
If you are a consumer in the UK purchasing online, you may generally have the legal right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving the goods, without giving a reason, in accordance with applicable UK consumer law.
Where you exercise this cancellation right, you must notify us within the applicable cancellation period and return the goods in accordance with our returns instructions.
The cost of returning an item is generally the customer's responsibility unless the item is faulty, incorrectly supplied, or we have agreed otherwise.
We will normally issue any refund due within the timeframe required by applicable law.
Important – Personalised and Made-to-Order Items
Some personalised, customised or made-to-order jewellery may fall within an exception to the standard 14-day cancellation right where the law permits, particularly where the item has been made to the customer's specifications or has been clearly personalised.
However, the fact that an item is handmade to order does not automatically remove a customer's statutory cancellation rights.
If a particular item is excluded from the statutory cancellation right, this will be made clear to you before you place your order.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects any rights you have under applicable UK consumer law.
9. Returns
If you wish to return an item, please contact us at hello@shelenrie.com before sending it back.
Unless an item is faulty or we have agreed otherwise, returned jewellery must:
-
Be unworn and in its original condition.
-
Be returned with its original packaging.
-
Not show signs of damage, alteration or excessive wear.
-
Include the original order details where reasonably possible.
We reserve the right to make appropriate deductions where goods have been handled beyond what is reasonably necessary to establish their nature, characteristics and functionality, where permitted by law.
Personalised, engraved or specifically customised items may not be eligible for cancellation or return where an applicable legal exception applies.
10. Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Items
Your statutory rights are not affected by these Terms & Conditions.
If your jewellery arrives damaged, is faulty, or you receive an item that does not match your order, please contact us as soon as possible at hello@shelenrie.com
Please include your order number and, where appropriate, photographs showing the issue.
Where an item is faulty or does not conform to the contract, you may have legal rights to a repair, replacement, price reduction or refund depending on the circumstances and applicable law.
We will deal with faulty or incorrect items in accordance with your statutory consumer rights.
11. Jewellery Care
To keep your jewellery looking its best, we recommend following our jewellery care guide.
Jewellery can be affected by exposure to perfumes, lotions, cosmetics, cleaning products, chlorine, salt water, moisture and other chemicals.
Please remove jewellery where appropriate, particularly before bathing, swimming, exercising, sleeping or using household chemicals.
Damage caused by accidental damage, misuse, improper care, normal wear and tear or failure to follow our care instructions may not be covered by our returns or repair policy.
This does not affect your statutory rights in relation to faulty goods.
12. Sizing
Please carefully check the sizing information provided before placing your order.
Where a ring or other item is made to a customer's specified size, an incorrect size provided by the customer may be treated as a personalised or made-to-order item.
If you are unsure about your size, please contact us before placing your order and we will be happy to provide guidance where possible.
13. Promotions and Discount Codes
Promotional offers and discount codes may be subject to additional terms, including expiry dates, minimum spend requirements, product exclusions and usage limits.
Unless otherwise stated, discount codes cannot be combined with other offers or exchanged for cash.
14. Intellectual Property

16. Liability
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited, including your statutory rights as a consumer.
Subject to applicable law, we are not responsible for losses that could not reasonably have been anticipated or for circumstances outside our reasonable control.
17. Events Outside Our Control
We will not be responsible for delays caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including natural disasters, extreme weather, strikes, transport disruption, postal or courier delays, government restrictions, customs delays, or other events beyond our reasonable control.
Where such an event affects your order, we will make reasonable efforts to keep you informed.
18. Privacy
We collect and process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Your information may be used to process orders, arrange delivery, provide customer support and fulfil our legal and contractual obligations.
19. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.
The version applicable to your purchase will generally be the version in force when you place your order.
The latest version will be published on our website with the date of the most recent update.
20. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer, you will also retain any mandatory protections and rights provided to you by the laws that apply to you.
